Carnation Silversocks contain pure silver, a naturally occurring element. The textile fibres incorporated in the sock have been completely and universally coated with pure silver. This construction means the silver is on the outside of the fibre allowing its many natural benefits and properties to perform at their optimum.

Carnation Silversocks are breathable and constructed using a high percentage of cotton for comfort. As the sock is completely and universally coated with silver it has both excellent thermodynamic and antimicrobial properties keeping feet cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter while inhibiting the growth of odour causing bacteria.
Carnation Silversocks' hydrophobic yarn system allows a greater amount of moisture to be drawn through the fibres for subsequent evaporation. As result moisture is transferred away from the foot faster, creating a more comfortable environment.
Silver Socks for Diabetes
Carnation Silversocks are breathable and constructed using a high percentage of cotton for comfort. The seam of the sock, over the toe area, is manufactured so it is on the outside of the sock to avoid unnecessary friction or pressure that could occur with traditional hosiery. The welt of the sock, that keeps the sock in place around the ankle, is designed to be a soft contact hold so as not to restrict circulation.

Silver Socks for Foot OdourHealthy and agile feet are important to support our entire body weight in our day - to - day lives. Our feet contain 250,000 sweat glands that constantly secrete moisture to keep feet moist, supple and healthy. However, many feet are prone to excessive sweating, which can lead to irritable feet. Sweaty and smelly feet are a common problem that many people encounter at some stage in their lives.

Bacteria are only one source of foot odour. Ammonia and denatured proteins are also significant causes of odour in hosiery products. Carnation Silversocks neutralise ammonia and denatured proteins, because both bind readily to silver resulting in instant odour reduction.

The skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa causes skin to blister and tear even under the slightest friction.
Epidermolysis Bullosa is characterised by the lack of adhesion of the skin either above or under the basement membrane. There are several variations of EB, the most common form causing blistering to the hands and feet. Rubbing and heat build up tend to be the main causes of blistering. This is worse in warm weather.
Carnation Silversocks were designed by Carnation Footcare when asked by Dr Tariq Khan, Consultant Podiatrist for EB at Great Ormond Street Hospital, to help find a way to reduce heat build up in the shoes of Epidermolysis Bullosa sufferers.
As silver has great thermodynamic properties it was the material of choice. The challenge was then how to keep it in the shoe and in contact with the foot. X - Static silver was used and bonded completely and universally to the textile fibres constructing the sock.
The result is a textile sock coated with pure silver for everyday wear just like ordinary socks, but with thermodynamic properties, regulating the temperature in the shoe to help reduce the risk of blistering caused by excessive friction and heat build up.
